i'm not much of a "tech-head" when it comes to gadgets, but this nikon coolpix proved me wrong. i love this camera. this nikon is very user friendly. the camera was very easy to us, and all the things that needed to be downloaded on the computer to develope the pictures was a snap. i would highly recommed this camera to a beginner, or camera pro.
This camera was sent back because the photos were very grainy at all settings. Hoping the new one works better.
As soon as a bit of dust gets into the lens housing it jams and causes a lens error that renders the camera inoperable. Big mistake. I have owned Nikon cameras all my life because of their excellent quality so I felt no need to research this camera before I purchased. This problem cannot be fixed and since it is interpreted as "damaged" it is not covered under warranty. This camera has a reputation all over the internet (check for yourself) for something known as a "lens error". The lens housing is very sensitive to sand or other debris that are part of the normal operating environment of a compact camera. In other words this camera has a short life span. Give it a pass.
This is a great camera for the type of people who want to capture memories of friends, special events ect. It takes great pictures and this is my second camera of this type. Its only drawback is that it takes a few seconds to capture a picture, which is not a problem unless you hope to take many action shots or fast consecutive pictures. Overall a good buy and I am happy with it.
Do NOT buy this camera. By that time, the 14-day warranty (that most vendors have) was up, and I was stuck with a bum camera. It worked for less than a month for me. Then it had lens error issues. I've been researching online, and it seems that this has happened to lots of other people with the Nikon Coolpix S210 model. I would recommend a different camera and spare yourself the hassle.
